Does Sex Count as Exercise?

Its been proven that men who regularly exercise lead more active sex lives, last longer and have more adventurous sex than sedentary men. This proves that exercising enhances your sex life but does it count as exercise?

We often get asked "Does Sex Count as Exercise" and here is what we discovered.

Does Sex Count as Cardio?

The answer is no.  The reason being is that a cardio workout is anything that raises your heart rate for an extended period of time, usually 20-30 minutes. It works all of the major muscle groups, and you should find yourself sweating and breathing hard during the most intense part of the workout.

Sex has many of the same effects on the body as an intense workout. During sex, your heart races, your metabolic rate increases, you burn calories, and stretch and strengthen muscles. However the "average" sex session lasts about 10-15 minutes and only burns around 50 calories.  It's physical activity but not considered a cardio workout.

The Bottom Line

Although sex is not considered cardio it is a great way to get your blood pumping and burn calories. For you health you should consider to do both, workout and have great sex regularly. You're better off getting sweaty in the gym with your partner first, and then reaping the sexual benefits of your workout after
